They also help educators vercome obstacles and develop new practices to help students discover the history and culture of their local area, and this land as a whole.

In this unit, students will focus on using critical literacy skills to explore consumer culture and the world of advertising. The students will use critical literacy strategies to inquire into both the obvious and the ambiguous messages behind advertising.

This is a thematic inquiry-based unit in which students will explore how the concept of waste has been used as a setting in stories or as a social and political topic of blogs and articles, thematic documentaries and works of art.
